Overview

The former Golden Visa provisions were repealed with effect from 3 April 2025. Historical thresholds are not available to new applicants.

Existing permits, renewals and transition cases require current review of the consolidated law and the holder's dates.

Spain's citizenship-by-residence rules are separate from the closed investor route and must be verified by the applicable category.

Physical presence note

New investor applications are closed. Existing-holder residence and naturalization continuity depend on individual dates and current law.

PR & naturalization

Long-term EU residence and citizenship are separate. Civil Code Article 22 uses 10/5/2/1-year residence periods by category; current procedural and integration requirements need separate verification.

Tax note

Spain's non-resident and new-resident tax regimes (including the historical 'Beckham law') are fact-specific and have changed; refer to a qualified tax adviser. Tax advice is given only by a qualified tax professional.

Documents note

Existing holders should obtain the current official renewal and transition checklist. Historical application lists are not a new-application pathway.
